The Saints ace was often criticised last term but he has won two accolades at the Premier League club’s awards night.

Southampton attacker Nathan Redmond has capped off a superb season by picking up two accolades at the Saints’ end-of-season awards evening on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old was voted the Fans’ Player of the Season and also the Players’ Player of the Season prize thanks to a campaign in which he maintained consistency and delivered for the team.
In 42 appearances in all competitions, Redmond scored eight goals and registered six assists (Transfermarkt), and all of his goals came after Ralph Hasenhuttl took the reins in December after Mark Hughes’s exit.
It marks a superb turnaround for the player, who aside from not netting this season before the Austrian’s arrival, also came for some intense criticism last season – a snapshot of some of the fan reaction from the 1-0 win over Swansea City last May is testament to that.
Here is how some Southampton fans reacted to the news after the club reported his accolades on their Twitter feed:
Redmond has been at Southampton since his 2016 move from Norwich City and his spell at St Mary’s has yielded 128 appearances, 17 goals and 11 assists, according to Transfermarkt.
