The Saints surged into round four thanks to a crushing victory over their bitter rivals on their turf.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the League Cup fourth round draw, which has handed the Saints a tie away at Manchester City.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s charges will make the trip to the Etihad Stadium in the week beginning October 28, the same week they play there in the Premier League, with that fixture tabled in for November 2.
Manchester City are the current League Cup holders, having won last year’s final against Chelsea on penalties, and have reached this year’s fourth round by winning 3-0 at Preston North End yesterday.
Southampton, meanwhile, have surged into round four thanks to their 4-0 hammering of rivals Portsmouth, with Danny Ings’s brace and further goals from Cedric Soares and Nathan Redmond ensuring victory at Fratton Park.
Here is what some of the St Mary’s faithful said on social media regarding the draw against the reigning league and cup champions:
The tie will be the first meeting between the Southampton and Man City in the League Cup since September 1999, when the Saints a won a replay 4-3 at The Dell following a goalless draw at Maine Road.
Up next for the St Mary’s side is Saturday’s Premier League trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
