The Saints ace will not feature for Ralph Hasenhuttl and co in their Premier League clash at St Mary’s Stadium.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the news that Cedric Soares will not feature for the Saints in Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Chelsea at St Mary’s Stadium.
The Portugal international pulled out in the warm-up ahead of last weekend’s loss at Tottenham Hotspur and remains sidelined with a calf problem, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed in his press conference.
Speaking about the fitness of the full-back, the manager said: “For sure not (available). He really tried to play against Tottenham, that maybe wasn’t the best idea, but he really wanted to help the team. He really tried to do it against Tottenham but after the warm-up the problem was too big. It’s a calf injury.”
Aside from the feelings of disappointment that Cedric is sidelined, quite a few St Mary’s faithful urged Hasenhuttl to pick Yan Valery, who featured plentifully last season but has found himself on the fringes of the first team this time round.
In other Southampton fitness news, striker Che Adams could return to Hasenhuttl’s squad, back-up goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is available again following a calf problem, and inger Moussa Djenepo is still unavailable with a hip issue (Evening Express).
