A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the club’s announcement of the squad which has travelled to Austria for their pre-season training camp.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has taken a 26-man contingent to the Montafon region of Austria as the Saints step up their preparations ahead of the 2019-20 Premier League campaign, the manager’s first full season at St Mary’s.

Southampton published the list of players that has travelled on their official website, while also stating that a few will remain at Staplewood Campus this week, continuing a full training programme, before re-joining the rest of squad when they return from Austria.

Some notable omissions in the squad list include Charlie Austin and Mario Lemina, both of whom have been linked with moves away, while some inclusions in the pack – Cedric Soares and Wesley Hoedt to name but two – also raised some eyebrows.

Here is some of the Saints fan reaction on the social media platform:

Southampton will take part in a week of intensive training before rounding off the trip with a friendly against Austrian Bundesliga side SCR Altach on Sunday at 2pm BST.

The south coast club’s first Premier League game of 2019-20 takes place on 10 August away at Burnley.
