Some Southampton fans have praised Ibrahima Diallo on Twitter for his performance against Liverpool and specifically Thiago.
The Saints got the better of defending champions Liverpool 1-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Monday evening.
While Danny Ings, a former Liverpool striker, scored the only goal of the match after just two minutes, it was the performance of Diallo that impressed the Southampton fans a lot.
The 21-year-old is a very good and promising young midfielder, and the youngster showed that against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The France Under-21 international played well against Thiago, as he imposed himself in the middle of the park, looked very calm in possession, and did his job of protecting the back-line very well.
According to WhoScored, Diallo had a pass accuracy of 79%, won one header, took 55 touches, attempted one dribble, and made two tackles and three clearances.
Some Southampton fans were impressed by the performance produced by Diallo at St. Mary’s Stadium on Monday evening, and believes that the £11 million signing from Brest (as reported by BBC Sport in October 2020) stopped Liverpool central midfielder Thiago from playing well.
