Southampton virtually guaranteed themselves Premier League survival with a massive win, but not every player impressed.

A number of Southampton fans took to Twitter during their vital Premier League clash with Swansea City on Tuesday to criticise Nathan Redmond’s performance as the winger struggled to make an impact for Mark Hughes’ side.

Following their agonising draw with Everton at the weekend, the Saints travelled to the Liberty Stadium knowing that a victory would make them all but safe in the Premier League relegation battle. Defeat however, would leave them three points adrift of safety with only a game against Manchester City left to get themselves out of trouble.

It was certainly not a game of any real quality between themselves and the Swans, but it was one that saw Hughes’ men celebrating wildly at the final whistle.

Manolo Gabbiadini came off the bench to score the game’s only goal, and in many ways, the strike summed up the contest, with Charlie Austin seeing a good effort blocked – he was thwarted several times by smart Lukasz Fabianski saves – before Gabbiadini benefited from the goalline free-for-all to find the back of the net.

The goal came eight minutes after Redmond came off, and it will probably not surprise Southampton fans too much that the winger was not on the pitch when the goal was scored as many felt that he was extremely poor in the win.

Several supporters took to social media to slam how wasteful the £10 million signing – fee reported by BBC Sport – was on the ball throughout the game, and express their desire to see the former Norwich City ace left out of the starting lineup on the final day.

Here is the best of the reaction…
