Southampton suffered a heavy defeat, and Mario Lemina was one of the players who disappointed the supporters.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to slam Mario Lemina’s performance during the Saints’ 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
Mark Hughes’ men would have been hoping to make up for the disappointing way their clash with Brighton ended on Monday night. The Saints had a 2-0 lead with 25 minutes remaining, but had to settle for a point after conceding twice.
Unfortunately for the Southampton supporters, Liverpool quickly ensured that they would be securing the three points as a Wesley Hoedt own goal before strikes from Joel Matip and Mo Salah helped the Reds to a 3-0 lead at the break.
The Saints would not concede after the break, but of course, the damage had already been done. Hughes’ side now find themselves 14th in the Premier League, three points above the bottom three.

It was a hugely disappointing afternoon. They may not have been expected to get a positive result against a LIverpool side who continue to have a flawless record, but the manner of the defeat saw several of their players face criticism.
Lemina was one of the members of the squad whose performance was slated by the fans. The midfielder is actually capable of being one of the more impressive players in the league when he is on form, but he has a frustrating ability to go missing more regularly than a player of his calibre should.

And several Saints fans felt that he did go missing at Anfield in a game where, if they were going to take anything back to the south coast with them, they undoubtedly needed the former Juventus man to shine.
Here is the best of the reaction to Lemina’s performance…
