Southampton and Crystal Palace went head-to-head this weekend with the Eagles coming out on top.

Southampton crashed to a 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with the Saints’ usually resolute back-line coming undone in the face of an Eagles onslaught.

It was a disappointing blow for Claude Puel’s men, who have impressed for much of this season to date, not least with their impressive defending.

That said the Saints boss will already be looking ahead to the next clash, ensuring that his side learns from the mistakes they made against a Christian Benteke inspired Palace.

Despite the disappointment of a heavy defeat, Southampton fans still have much to cheer this season, and they got another chance to see summer signing Sofiane Boufal after the winger was forced to start the campaign on the side-lines due to injury.

Boufal played 76 minutes on Saturday and while he is yet to hit fifth gear he showed glimpses of his undeniable talent.

The 23-year-old was a sensation in Ligue 1 and Puel will be hoping the Moroccan ultimately follows the same path in the Premier League.
