The Daily Mail have claimed today that Southampton are interested in signing Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun this summer.
The teenager is one of the Gunners’ finest youth prospects at the moment. He is set to leave the Emirates in search of senior football this summer after rejecting a new contract. (Goal)
Balogun will enter the final year of his contract tomorrow. Arsenal have reportedly tried to extend his deal but the teenager is in search of first-team action, something that he cannot accomplish at the Emirates immediately.
The 18-year-old has 10 goals in 16 appearances for Arsenal’s under-23’s. Balogun was expected to be an integral part of the Gunners’ future but it seems like he will end up elsewhere.
The report claims that AC Milan are also interested in Balogun’s services but if he really is in search of first-team action in the near future, Southampton might just be the best fit for him.
Che Adams hasn’t quite had the success that he would have hoped for while Shane Long will turn 34 midway through next season.
Danny Ings and Michael Obafemi will remain Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first choice starters but Balogun has the potential to dislodge at least on of their places in the starting eleven soon.

Hasenhuttl and Southampton both have a brilliant history of developing young players. Balogun could potentially be the next Saints player to make it big if he does move there this summer.
Saints fans would love to have the Arsenal youngster in their squad next season. Here’s how a few of them reacted on Twitter.
