Southampton supporters are still reeling from their 9-0 loss on Friday night. It’s the kind of defeat which takes a long, long time to get over.
Two days later Saints supporters were bemused as former goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga put in an outstanding performance for Tottenham at Anfield.
Gazzaniga at Southampton was very error prone. He would argue that he didn’t get a long enough run. When he moved to Tottenham, fans of both clubs were puzzled by the move.
He has stepped up as a more reliable player at Tottenham, and he is currently filling in for Hugo Lloris, who is out until the end of the year.
Gazzaniga did well for Tottenham against Liverpool at the weekend, despite the 2-1 loss.
Liverpool scored a late winner from the penalty spot. If not for Gazzaniga, they would have been out of sight a long time beforehand. The Reds had managed 13 shots on target in the win.
The Argentine goalkeeper’s performance caught the eye of Southampton supporters.
