The 27-year-old defensive midfielder started thematic and played for the entire 90 minuets, as the Saints lost 2-1.
The former Spain Under-23 international did try hard in the middle of the park, but the former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder did not have a good game and struggled to impose himself.
Romeu has been playing well under Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, but against Cardiff, the midfielder did not do well against the Bluebirds.
