The Saints youngster has been with the Premier League club for a decade and has become a key member of Radhi Jaidi’s Under-23s.

Southampton have confirmed that academy midfielder Will Smallbone has signed a contract extension that ties him to the Premier League club until June 2021.
The 18-year-old has been with the Saints for a decade, joining their ranks as an eight-year-old and progressing steadily through the ranks.
Capped for the Republic of Ireland’s Under-18s, Smallbone has become a key member of Radhi Jaidi’s Under-23s at St Mary’s in several different midfield roles (Transfermarkt).
According to Transfermarkt, the youngster has claimed an impressive four assists in 11 Premier League 2 games, plus one in the Checkatrade Trophy.
Late in November, Smallbone was one of two players who scored a hat-trick in a 7-0 thumping of Notts County in the Premier League Cup, as per Southampton’s official match report.
Eager to impress new Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, he said after signing the new deal: “Hopefully with the new manager coming in, if I keep playing well then I can catch the eye and try make my debut with the first team as soon as I can.”
