Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the departure of Mohamed Elyounoussi to Celtic.

As announced on Southampton’s official website, Elyounoussi has joined Scottish Premiership outfit Celtic on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who can operate as a forward or as a winger, joined the Saints from Basel in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £16 million.

The Norway international arrived at St. Mary’s Stadium with a strong reputation and was expected to be a star at the Premier League club.

However, Elyounoussi has failed to make a massive impact at Southampton, and there is no surprise that the Saints have decided to send him out on loan to Celtic in the summer transfer window.

According to WhoScored, the Norwegian made eight starts and eight substitute appearances in the Premier League for Southampton last season, and failed to score a single goal or provide even one assist.

Southampton fans have given their take on Elyounoussi’s loan move to Celtic on Twitter.
