Southampton have been linked with a deal for Kalvin Phillips.

Southampton have been linked with a move for Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips.
The Sun (p14/4 p61) claimed Phillips is a top transfer target for Southampton, but a deal can only happen if Leeds fail to win promotion.
Leeds currently sit second in the Championship, meaning Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side may have to look elsewhere.
As for where Phillips would fit at Southampton, there is no clear gap in midfield for the 23-year-old.
Oriol Romeu, James Ward-Prowse, Mario Lemina and Pierre-Emile Hojberg provide strong competition.

Considering The Sun’s claim Leeds would demand £20 million for Phillips if they don’t go up, it would be an odd area for Southampton to invest so much money.
The Saints’ record signing is the £19 million spent on Guido Carillo in January 2018.
Leeds fans have fiercely resisted the prospect of losing Phillips, and Southampton fans are not crazy about a deal either.
