It was a bitter blow for the Saints, but it is one they will have to get over quickly as they look to get back to winning ways and return to the top half of the Premier League table.
One Southampton player who came in for his fair share of criticism after the match is young midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes on Saturday. However he could do little to stop his side from crashing to their fourth straight league victory.
It is in stark contrast to Southampton’s recent cup form, with a 1-0 first leg lead in the EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool the least they deserved after an impressive performance against the Reds last week.
