Southampton are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea stalwart Gary Cahill.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to react to the reports emerging from the Daily Mirror over the weekend which have suggested that the Saints are interested in a move for Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.
Interestingly, Cahill – who earns £130,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – was in Chelsea’s squad for their trip to St Mary’s on Sunday, but he did not get out onto the pitch as Maurizio Sarri’s side stormed to a 3-0 win.
The heavy defeat has meant that Southampton have now conceded 11 goals in their last six games in all competitions, and that is perhaps why plenty of Saints supporters on social media are all for a move for Cahill in January.

The likes of Wesley Hoedt, Maya Yoshida and Jannik Vestergaard have all shown that they have brilliant performances in them, but it appears at the moment that they are all also capable of making key mistakes that prove costly.
Cahill is edging towards the twilight of his career – and that appears to be why the reaction has not been unanimously positive – but his reputation as one of the more reliable centre-backs in the league over the last decade has left most Southampton fans suggesting that Hughes needs to get him in when the winter window opens.

Here is the best of the reaction to the reports…
