Southampton put in a great performance to earn themselves a deserved point against league leaders Manchester City.
The draw for City means that Pep Guardiola’s team return to the top of the table on goal difference, but their winless streak now extends to five games.

The Saints took the lead in the 27th minute, a mistake from John Stones allowed Nathan Redmond to fire the visitors ahead. Stones scored shortly after his error, but his goal was disallowed. After a disappointing first-half for the home side, City improved after the break, equalising when substitute Kelechi Iheanacho scored from a Leroy Sane low cross.
City looked set to get the winner, but keeper Fraser Forster made some impressive saves to keep the Saints in the game.

Pep Guardiola has now failed to win in five successive matches for only the second time in his managerial career. Claude Puel’s side remain in eighth – extending their unbeaten league run to a fifth game.
