Southampton and Stoke City went head-to-head this week.
Southampton played out a 0-0 draw with Stoke City on Wednesday evening, with the Potters playing three quarters of the match with 10 men after Marko Arnautovic’s red card.
Despite that setback Stoke held firm and Southampton will be disappointed not to have taken all three points back to the south coast.
Southampton had the majority of the ball – 71 per cent in fact – but with only four efforts on target they were not able to break the hosts down.
Cuco Martina maintained his place in the starting line-up for the second successive match, and while the 27-year-old helped Southampton keep a clean sheet he came in for some criticism from the club’s supporters.
Martina has featured sporadically in the league this season, playing predominantly in the Europa League, and it is clear the jury is still out.
