Southampton drew with Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of goalkeeper Alex McCarthy against Burnley.
McCarthy featured for Southampton in their Premier League match against Burnley away from home at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, as it finished in a 1-1 draw.
The England international has a mixed game, as the former Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper got lucky with a challenge on Ashley Barnes in the first half and then made a brilliant save during the second period.
McCarthy, though, failed to do anything when Barnes stepped up to take his penalty in the fourth minute of injury time.
Southampton fans were not happy with the performance of McCarthy – who has been on the books of the Saints since summer of 2016 when he joined from Premier League rivals Palace for a transfer fee reported by The Southern Daily Echo to be worth £2 million – and wanted him to do more on the spot-kick.
