The Saints held Maurizio Sarri’s Blues to a stalemate at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League and two players in particular stood out for some fans.
On Wednesday night, Southampton left Stamford Bridge with a point as they held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw.
The Saints defence had shipped 40 goals in the previous 20 Premier League games and had not kept a clean sheet in the league since the stalemate against Newcastle in October.
As a result, some Southampton fans would have been forgiven if they were pessimistic ahead of kickoff, but as it turned out, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s charges held firm at the back.
What made it even more special for the south coast club was that one of their stars on the night, goalkeeper Angus Gunn, was making his Premier League debut.
The likes of Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Jorginho all had attempts against the 22-year-old but none made it through as Southampton successfully frustrated Maurizio Sarri’s side.

One sour point for Southampton is that they slipped into the bottom three of the table following the draw and they will have to put the league on the backburner for now as they head to Derby this weekend for a FA Cup third-round tie.
