The Saints flop, now on loan at Celta Vigo, said he couldn’t understand why he was frozen out, cue some fans destroying him on social media.

Wesley Hoedt has claimed that he was never told why he was frozen out at Southampton following the completion of his loan move to Spanish side Celta Vigo.
The Netherlands defender made 13 appearances for Saints this season, but they all came under former manager Mark Hughes, with new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl opting not to pick him.
On Tuesday, Southampton confirmed Hoedt’s departure in a statement on their official website and also said the La Liga strugglers have the option to buy him when his loan expires in the summer.
The Dutchman joined the Premier League club in a £15m deal in the summer of 2017 from Italian side Lazio when Mauricio Pellegrino was in charge but leaves 18 months into his five-year contract having clocked up 45 appearances for the south coast outfit, according to Transfermarkt.
Hoedt is quoted by the Daily Echo as saying: “It’s been very strange. I played everything. Almost fifty games in a row I was in the starting line-up and I played ninety minutes. Until I suddenly came to be at the side of it. I never had a clear explanation.”

In his 13 games for Saints this Premier League season, 21 goals were shipped, but since his last appearance, which came on November 24 in the 3-2 defeat against Fulham, they’ve conceded four fewer goals in 10 top-flight matches, according to the Daily Echo.
This would make it seem like Hasenhuttl’s decision was justified, and some Southampton fans took to Twitter after learning of Hoedt’s parting comments to give their thoughts:
