Southampton defender Matt Targett filled in for Ryan Bertrand again.

Southampton kept hold on Matt Targett in the summer in case they needed him to fill in for Ryan Bertrand.
He was required again last night with the Saints’ regular left-back out with a back injury.
Targett was impressive on loan at Fulham last season but is still adjusting to Premier League level.
He was on the losing side as Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side fell to a 2-1 loss to a Felipe Anderson inspired West Ham.
Targett tried to get forward at every opportunity, with limited success.
He attempted eight crosses, of which only one managed to find a teammate.

Playing in a wing-back role which should suit his game, Targett struggled defensively despite attempting seven tackles.
Ryan Bertrand is a more accomplished player and Southampton will be a better side when he returns.
The 23-year-old split fans, with some appreciating his efforts going forward, and others frustrated with his naiveity in defence.
