Southampton fans were not impressed by Mario Lemina’s performance in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to slam Mario Lemina’s performance during the Saints’ FA Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea which saw Mark Hughes’ men beaten 2-0.

With Southampton right in the relegation mix this season, the cup has provided the south coast side with some respite and they would have been hoping that they could reach their first final in the competition since they were beaten by Arsenal back in 2003.

Unfortunately for the Saints, Chelsea scored twice in the second-half to set up a final with Manchester United and leave Hughes’ side to concentrate on securing top flight survival in the final weeks of the season.

There were some bright moments from Southampton’s players, but there were a large portion of fans who were livid with Lemina’s display against the Blues.

The £18.1 million signing – fee reported by BBC Sport – started brilliantly following his summer move from Juventus, but his form has tailed off dramatically in recent months.

He clearly has the quality to thrive at the highest level, but he has not shown anything like that kind of form when he has been fit over the last few weeks, and that has led a number of Saints supporters to suggest that his uninspiring display against Chelsea was simply a sign that he already has his eye on a summer move away from the club.
