Kevin Danso made his Southampton debut as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men collected their first win of the new Premier League season.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that the Saints may have uncovered a very promising player after Kevin Danso made his debut for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side in what proved to be their first win of the campaign.
There was something of a selection surprise from Hasenhuttl, with Danso picked to replace Ryan Bertrand at left-back for the trip to Brighton.
The 20-year-old moved to St Mary’s on loan on transfer deadline day, with the youngster expected to bolster the side’s options at the heart of the defence. But his bow came out on the left after Bertrand picked up an injury.
And while it was a shaky start for the Austria international, it looked to be the kind of debut that he can reflect positively on. Goals from Moussa Djenepo and Nathan Redmond ensured that the Saints have their first points of the season, and Danso largely impressed in an unfamiliar position.

Whoscored.com shows that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was the only player on the pitch to complete more successful passes than Danso, while he also won one challenge and two aerial duels.
There are some hoping that Danso moves into the middle in the near future, but the large majority of the Saints fans on social media appear to be delighted with the impression that he made on his first appearance for the club. It was an intriguing signing when he arrived, but it seems that his loan move could be a very good piece of business from Southampton.

Here is what some of the Southampton supporters made of Danso’s debut display…
