Southampton are reportedly interested in Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

With Southampton fans seemingly more optimistic about a campaign than they have been for a number of years, it seems fair to say that any fresh signings in the final days of the transfer window would be the icing on the cake.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have been impressive in pre-season, with Che Adams catching the eye on a number of occasions following his arrival from Birmingham City.
There are still areas for concern, and one of those appears to be at the heart of the defence. Understandably, the Saints have not looked as strong since losing Virgil van Dijk, and it would be a big boost for Hasenhuttl’s side if they could make a further addition before the window closes.
The Sunday People (4/8; page 48) reported at the weekend that the Saints are interested in taking Barcelona youngster Jean-Clair Todibo on loan, with the Catalan side feeling that the Frenchman would benefit from a year away from the Nou Camp where he can play regularly.

And the Southampton fans on Twitter appear to be delighted about the prospect of Todibo arriving at St Mary’s. He is clearly destined for an extremely bright future, and the supporters believe that he could make a big difference during the coming Premier League season.
One fan even suggested that it could prove to be a deal that evokes memories of another loan move that Southampton secured for a La Liga defender when they signed Toby Alderweireld during Ronald Koeman’s tenure.

Here is how some of the fans reacted to the reports…
