Southampton produced a superb second-half turnaround to keep themselves out of the Premier League relegation zone.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to laud Jan Bednarek’s performance during their stunning victory against Tottenham on Saturday.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men looked destined to fall into the bottom three in the Premier League as they went into the break 1-0 down against Mauricio Pochettino’s side while Cardiff boasted a lead by the same scoreline against West Ham.
But while Cardiff bagged another, Spurs could not. And despite coming out on the wrong side of some shockingly questionable refereeing decisions, the Saints produced a remarkable turnaround.
Yan Valery equalised with less than 15 minutes remaining before James Ward-Prowse produced a sumptuous free-kick to secure the three points that keeps the Saints out of the relegation zone. Spurs will understandably have some complaints about where the set-piece was taken from, but Kyle Walker-Peters looked fortunate to avoid a red card for the foul anyway.

Southampton may not have the best track record when it comes to breaking their transfer record, but there can be no doubt that some of the signings that they have picked up for smaller fees have been inspired – and the £5 million move for Bednarek (via BBC Sport) is beginning to look like a masterstroke.
The Poland international has been outstanding under Hasenhuttl and produced another fantastic display at St Mary’s at the weekend, and the fans were full of praise for the defender on social media.
