Southampton continued their pre-season preparations with an impressive win at the weekend.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jake Vokins’ performance during the Saints’ latest pre-season game, which saw Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men pick up a 3-1 win away at Preston North End on Saturday.
Vokins looks destined to have a more prominent role at St Mary’s this term after the Saints decided to allow Matt Targett to join newly-promoted Aston Villa on a permanent basis this summer.
He featured for the final 18 minutes at Deepdale, but did enough during that time to catch the eye of the Southampton fans who were getting to see their side play for only the second time this summer.
The defender scored the final goal in the latter stages of the game. He showed the composure of an attacker to not take the chance first time, and instead steady himself before tucking the ball home with the outside of his left boot.

Unsurprisingly, there are plenty of Saints supporters who are excited about Vokins’ potential and the chances that he may get during the coming campaign following Targett’s exit.
Hasenhuttl looks to be the ideal manager to get the club back on track when it comes to turning academy starlets into first-team stars. And Vokins looks set to be one of those who will really be reaping the rewards of working with the Austrian.

Here is how some of the Southampton fans reacted to Vokins’ cameo against the Championship side…
