Southampton put up an extremely brave fight during their Premier League clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Southampton fans have been heaping praise upon Fraser Forster following the Saints’ spirited performance against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium where only a late Raheem Sterling stunner could separate the two sides.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s men were the latest team who had to step up and try to end the Cityzens’ sensational run at the start of this season – they are still unbeaten in all competitions, and have failed to win on just one occasion.

It appeared that they may set up a nervy finish as Oriol Romeu equalised with 15 minutes to go following Kevin De Bruyne’s deflected opener for the home side just after the break.
It was not to be for the Saints however, as Sterling curled a brilliant effort into the corner from the edge of the box in additional time at the end of stoppage-time, sparking wild celebrations amongst the City players, staff and fans.
On social media, there appears to be a real sense of pride from the Saints supporters after they watched their team really push Pep Guardiola’s men – and one of the players who has attracted a lot of praise is goalkeeper Forster.
Forster has often been slammed by the fans this term, but he reminded them of his quality with a number of impressive saves throughout the contest – and Pellegrino will be hoping that the display was the boost of confidence the Englishman needed.
