Southampton’s recent wait for a Premier League win goes on as they drew 2-2 with Newcastle United at St Mary’s.

There appeared to be a time when Fraser Forster was considered one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, having established himself as a key member of the Southampton side.

Unfortunately for the 29-year-old, his form perhaps since the start of last season appears to have left a lot to be desired, and judging by the Saints fans’ reaction to his performance following their draw with Newcastle on Sunday, Mauricio Pellegrino needs to do something about his number one.

Forster looked unconvincing when it came to dealing with crosses and some attempts on goal, and arguably should have done a lot better with the Magpies’ second goal as Ayoze Perez’s initial effort was parried into a dangerous area, and it was Perez who squeezed in the rebound from an acute angle at close range.

As mentioned, Forster’s recent form has arguably been considerably below the extremely high standards he set when he first arrived at St Mary’s.

And it appears that the patience is running out amongst the fans, with many taking to social media after the game to criticise the former Newcastle stopper.

Many have now urged Pellegrino to leave the stopper out when the Saints face West Brom at home next weekend as he no longer looks to be the reliable goalkeeper he previously was.

Here is the best of the reaction…
