Southampton fans were naturally disappointed after seeing their side draw 1-1 with Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
Many were pleased with the fight shown to salvage a draw considering the fact Villa went 1-0 up through Joleon Lescott.
But, overall, that was not the response the Southampton faithful were looking for after recent poor results.
Several players in particular drew criticism – and Dusan Tadic was one of the culprits in chief. Indeed, the 27-year-old Serb was very much on song last season but has been criticised recently for not offering much and being a ‘luxury’ player.
Also disappointing, according to Southampton supporters, were Tadic’s wasteful set-pieces.
Oriol Romeu netted his first ever goal for the South Coast club and, ultimately, Ronald Koeman’s men had too much in attack to allow Aston Villa a clean sheet. But better is needed from their star players considering their results and performances of late.
