The Saints have reportedly agreed a fee with Celtic for Armstrong and he is now due to discuss personal terms.
Armstrong scored five goals and provided six assists last season for Celtic’s treble winning side.

He had a better 2016/17, where he scored 17 times and created seven goals.

Armstrong only has one year left on his Celtic deal, making this a sensible time for the Scottish champions to cash in.
Southampton have signed players with regularity and success from Celtic in recent years, Fraser Forster, Victor Wanyama and Virgil van Dijk all proving successes.
Armstrong will need his form of a year ago if he is to succeed in the Premier League.

Southampton have had a disappointing transfer window so far, missing out on James Maddison to Leicester and also facing an uphill task in their battle for Jack Wilshere.
Fans have given mixed views on the move for Armstrong, and not all are convinced.
