Southampton have been linked with the former Premier League misfit.

The Mirror have reported that Southampton could make a move for ex-Newcastle United playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa in January.
The 29-year-old only joined Paris Saint-Germain from Nice in the summer, but he has been left out of three match-day squads by Unai Emery already.

As a consequence, speculation has mounted over his future in the French capital, and The Mirror reports that Southampton boss Claude Puel – who signed him for Nice, after difficult spells in England – is interested in bringing him to the South Coast during the winter transfer window.
Southampton spent a club-record £16 million (according to BBC) on bringing Sofiane Boufal to St Mary’s in the summer, with the Moroccan wizard being a similar player to Ben Arfa.

But some Saints fans on Twitter seem particularly excited about the prospect of seeing the Frenchman in the same team as Boufal.
He may or may not have something of an attitude problem, evident by his troubles at previous clubs, but Puel seems like a manager who previously extracted the best out of him, and a reunion at Southampton may be fruitful for both the player and the team – at least in the short term.
