The Saints have been linked with the Nigeria international striker, who plays for Italian club Spezia.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the transfer rumour linking the Saints with a £15million move for Nigeria international David Okereke.

According to The Sun, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is moving closer to making a move for the 21-year-old striker, who currently plies his trade at Italian club Spezia.

Southampton have also been linked with Birmingham City forward Che Adams but the report says negotiations are proving frustrating for the Premier League club.

As a result, it is believed that the south coast outfit is looking at other options, one of those being Okereke, who claimed 10 goals and 12 assists in 33 games for the Serie B side.

In addition to Southampton, The Sun believes fellow Premier League outfits Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace have also been tracking the forward.

Here is how some of the Saints faithful reacted to the reported prospect of the Super Eagles ace arriving at St Mary’s Stadium:

Southampton have already completed one transfer this window, with Mali star Moussa Djenepo arriving from Belgian club Standard Liege on a four-year deal.
