Southampton lifted themselves out of the Premier League relegation zone with a vital win.
Mario Lemina
Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to laud Mario Lemina after the midfielder’s stunning performance in their hugely important 3-2 victory over West Brom on Saturday.
The Saints went into the clash at The Hawthorns still awaiting their first win in the league since they beat Everton back in November. And with the Baggies also beginning the day in the bottom three, the game certainly seemed worthy of being dubbed a six-pointer.

Despite falling behind in the opening minutes, the Saints were the ones who picked up the win as they scored three times before the hour mark on their way to a 3-2 victory over the Baggies, who, of course, are managed by former Southampton boss Alan Pardew.
There were a number of impressive performances on show, but the player who arguably shone the most in the game was Lemina, who has been a revelation since arriving at St Mary’s in the summer.

The midfielder controlled and dictated the game and marked that by scoring a stunning equaliser five minutes before the break as he drilled a gradually-rising strike into the top corner to cancel out Ahmed Hegazi’s opener.
The Saints fans have understandably lauded Lemina on social media, and they have insisted that Mauricio Pellegrino – who has left the 24-year-old on the bench for an entire game on 10 occasions in the league this season – has no excuse not to start, and perhaps build the team around Lemina.
Here is the best of the reaction…
