Southampton fans are eyeing up wantaway Leicester City striker as a potential January signing amid reports he wants to quit the Foxes after just six months

Leicester beat competition from several clubs to sign Iheanacho from Manchester City in the summer, but it has not worked out well.

The Sun report Iheanacho is keen to quit, having been unable to dislodge Jamie Vardy from the starting XI, with competition also coming from Shinji Okazaki and Islam Slimani.

Iheanacho has had a frustrating career to date due to a lack of game time, having been a back-up in Manchester and now Leicester.

Southampton have money available after selling Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool, and potentially they could offer him the status of number one striker which he craves.

Iheanacho may have been underwhelming at Leicester, but he is a player with huge potential and is a regular at international level for Nigeria, where he has record scoring every other game.

The Saints would have to rely on former boss Claude Puel doing them a favour, but Iheanacho is reportedly keen on an exit, just months after signing for £25 million.
