Southampton have been linked with a stunning approach for former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel.

Southampton fans have been reacting on Twitter to reports – one of the most recent coming from the Independent – which has suggested that Thomas Tuchel could be targeted as a potential replacement for Claude Puel.

The Independent reports that the Saints have been reviewing Puel’s first season in charge and are actually likely to part company with the Frenchman, despite him guiding the south coast club to an EFL Cup final and eighth in the Premier League.

The disappointing brand of football and largely unconvincing top flight campaign appeared to be key reasons why the fans have seemingly lost a lot of faith in the idea of Puel being the man to take the club forward as this past campaign wore on.

And it appears that the board are starting to think along similar lines, with the Independent suggesting that a change may be imminent and an approach for Tuchel could be their next move.

Tuchel has only just left his job at Borussia Dortmund, and it appears that he would certainly be a very popular appointment at St Mary’s if the social media reaction is anything to go by.

The 43-year-old arguably did a tremendous job in the wake of Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the Westfalenstadion, and his preferred brand of football would undoubtedly give the Saints supporters plenty to shout about if they managed to bring him in, which has seemingly led to an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the rumours.
