Southampton played out a 2-2 draw with Newcastle United away from home in the Premier League on Sunday.
Southampton duo Graziano Pelle and Shane Long have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the draw with Newcastle United away from home on Sunday.
The Saints kicked off their 2015-16 Premier League campaign with a 2-2 draw with Newcastle at St. James’ Park.
Italy international striker Pelle met Cedric Soares’s long ball to head Southampton ahead in the 24th minute, but Papiss Cisse equalised for the home team by chesting in a deflected cross before the half-time interval.
Georginio Wijnaldum marked his Premier League debut for Newcastle with a powerful header just three minutes into the second half, but Long headed home Dusan Tadic’s cross in the 79th minute to restore parity.
Following the draw, Pelle and Long took to Twitter to have their say on the result.
Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has also posted his thoughts on the match on Twitter.
The Saints are back in action on Saturday, when they take on Everton at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League.
