Southampton have delivered an ‘early Christmas present’ to their supporters by sharing images of Stuart Armstrong back in training.
Armstrong has been an important player for the Saints since signing from Celtic in 2018.

Last season, he started 32 Premier League matches, playing in a variety of roles, scoring four goals and notching five assists.
The Scotland international hasn’t got going so far this season, though.
He missed a chunk of matches at the beginning of the campaign and then after four consecutive outings, he picked up another calf injury in early November.
Armstrong has missed seven Premier League matches since then, but he looks to finally be closing in on a return.
“The injury situation is also getting better,” said manager Ralph Hasenhuttl on Thursday [Hampshire Live].
“We have Stuart Armstrong and Che Adams back, that’s it so far.”

At the minute, it’s unclear whether or not Armstrong is in contention to play a significant role against West Ham on Boxing Day, but on Friday morning, the Saints media team tweeted photos of him in training.
‘Morning, Stu’, reads the tweet. ‘How’s this sight for an early Christmas present?’
With Southampton winless in six in the league, it’s a big boost for Hasenhuttl to have the 29-year-old’s quality back at his disposal.
Given the quick turnaround between their Boxing Day clash with the Hammers and a home fixture against Tottenham just two days later, the Austrian will need to use his resources wisely over the coming week.
