The Saints have brought both strikers permanently to St Mary’s Stadium this summer.

Southampton striker Danny Ings has spoken highly of new arrival Che Adams, praising his footballing characteristics and looking forward to striking up a successful attacking partnership with his fellow forward.
Adams, one of the Championship’s standout players last season, has joined the Saints from Birmingham City on a five-year-deal for a reported £15million fee, months after the St Mary’s Stadium outfit reportedly first went for him (BBC Sport).
Likewise, Ings is a permanent summer arrival at Southampton, having joined from fellow Premier League club Liverpool in a reported £20million deal (BBC Sport), although he had been on loan at St Mary’s from Anfield for the 2018-19 season.
“It’s been really good,” Ings told the Daily Echo. “He is very strong, both mentally and physically. He is a great addition. He gives us something different and he is already scoring goals in pre-season. It can only be a positive for us moving forward.”

When questioned whether he and Adams can form a successful partnership up front, Ings replied: “I think so. We are slightly different players. It’s always positive bringing top talent into the club and to work hard with.”
The Saints endured a tricky season last time out as they made a poor start under Mark Hughes but, after the Welshman was replaced by Ralph Hasenhuttl, the club’s form turned round and they succeeded in securing their top-flight status.
As well as Ings and Adams, Mali winger Moussa Djenepo has also been recruited by Southampton this summer as the club seeks to kick on in the Austrian coach’s first full season at the helm of the Saints.
