Sevilla have increased their bid for midfielder Thomas Delaney but are yet to meet Borussia Dortmund’s valuation of the rumoured Southampton and Crystal Palace target, per Marca.
The La Liga outfit are striving to negotiate several potential transfers before the August 31 deadline. But Sevilla Sporting Director Monchi has found Delaney to be the most complex due to difficult discussions with Borussia Dortmund.
Sevilla have an agreement in principle with Delaney for personal terms, with the Denmark international agreeing to a three-year contract. The 29-year-old also accepts his future lies away from the Westfalenstadion after falling behind younger options in the pecking order.

But Borussia Dortmund want no less than €7m (£6m) to sell Delaney, having lowered their asking price from €10m (£8.5m). Sevilla, though, have only upped their previous bid to €6m (£5m), after failing with a €4m (£3.5m) pursuit, per BT.
Delaney can play a crucial role in further negotiations between Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla if he pushes for the move. Southampton and Crystal Palace may pay close attention to negotiations, with Bild and Ruhr Nachrichten citing their interest in Delaney.
Monchi to increase Sevilla bid again to beat Palace and Southampton to Delaney?
Having already increased Sevilla’s offer by 50%, Monchi may not be against paying another £1m to beat the likes of Palace and Southampton to a deal for Delaney with Dortmund. The 29-year-old is seemingly open to moving to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, after all.
Dortmund will want Sevilla to up their offer again for Delaney to head to Spain rather than Palace or Southampton. The Bundesliga side have already knocked 30% off their valuation of a player they signed for €20m (£17m) in 2018.
BVB boss Marco Rose has also commented on Delaney’s future in North Rhine-Westphalia. He said, via Diario de Sevilla: “Delaney? He is a Borussia Dortmund player. Generally, we don’t like to talk about rumours but in this case, I can say that I have not yet been informed [about any potential transfers].”
So, the path is not yet entirely shut off for Southampton or Palace to sign Sevilla target Delaney from Dortmund. Adding a highly technical midfielder to Ralph Hasenhuttl or Patrick Vieira’s plans to drive possession forward and break opposition lines.
