Southampton have hatched a plan to sign a new right-back before the end of June, according to claims made by the Daily Echo.
Now, before you all point out that the transfer window is not officially open, it seems that the Saints are having something of a ‘lightbulb moment’.
The Echo reports that there is one right-back in particular in Southampton’s sights. The mystery man’s identity will surely be revealed sooner rather than later but, right now, all we know is that the 2019/20 season is over – for him at least.
His campaign has been curtailed due to the ongoing global health crisis, the report explains. And, interestingly, there are a couple of exciting full-backs who fit the bill.
VI claims that Deyovaisio Zeefuik is on Southampton’s radar. An exciting, attack-minded player who learned his trade at Ajax, Zeefuik (below) has already announced that he plans to leave Groningen this summer with the Eredivisie season cut short in April.

Paris Saint-Germain starlet Thierno Balde has also been linked with a move to St Mary’s by L’Equipe.
Ligue 1, like the Eredivisie, is over for the season. And, what’s more, Balde will be out of contract on July 1.
These are two names to watch out for then with Southampton thinking outside the box to solve a problem position.
Though even if a newcomer does not arrive, Ralph Hasenhuttl will at least have Kyle Walker-Peters at his disposal with the Tottenham loanee extending his short-term contract until the end of the campaign.
