Southampton manager raves about Tottenham Hotspur star.
The Saints play host to Spurs tonight, and Claude Puel shared who he believes is the visitors’ most important player, when speaking at his pre-match press conference, and quoted by the Mirror.
Tottenham head to the south cast on the back of a decent run of form, with three wins from their last four league outings, and there is a buzz of excitement emanating from the squad, after so many first team stars have recently committed their futures to the club.

The hosts have been nothing if not inconsistent this term, and currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, but a win tonight could take them up to seventh.
And Puel described the difficulties his side will face tonight, with the individual quality of the opposition, highlighting one Spurs player in particular who he admirers, as quoted by the Mirror:
“He’s an important player for Tottenham because he is clinical every time, he will make saves in every game. The most important player at Tottenham, he has a good level, good quality, character, and he’s a good captain.”

Puel has actually coached the 29-year-old France international before, during his time at Lyon, and the Southampton boss reminisced about their time spent woking together, as quoted by the Mirror:
“He was my player at Lyon and I gave him the role of captain, He was a young player but always an important player. It was important for Tottenham to keep him with a new contract.”
