Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Southampton boss Claude Puel discussed how Sunday’s match against Chelsea represents a huge challenge for his side, and how he places little importance on the Saints’ unbeaten home record, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The South Coast outfit are on a fine run of form, and currently sit in eighth position in the Premier League table after picking up four wins and two draws from their last six league outings.

Puel told reporters how he is concentrating more on finding out the best way to extract a good performance from his side, rather than avoiding defeat to continue their unbeaten home run, as quoted by southamptonfc.com:

“We don’t look at this. For me, it’s not important. It’s just important to stay with good concentration on our play and all the details of our game. This is the most important, and I hope we are going to play a strong game against Chelsea, who are a good team, with good players.”

Chelsea themselves have been on a fine run in recent weeks, despite their 2-1 defeat to West Ham United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, and now find themselves just one point behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Sunday’s game will be of vital importance to both sides, as they look to continue their good momentum on through to the next round of international fixtures.
