The Saints winger has improved his goalscoring tally but Hasenhuttl thinks there is much more to his all-round game now.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has lifted the lid on the “new” Nathan Redmond’s improved performances for the south coast club.
The 24-year-old has been on the Saints’ books since his move from Norwich City in the summer of 2016 and, during his first two-and-a-half years, he scored nine goals, according to the Daily Echo.
However, under Hasenhuttl’s tutelage, Redmond has now scored four in his last six games, as well as gaining his first assists of the season, but the Austrian says he is just as impressed by how the player’s all-round game has developed.
Speaking to the Daily Echo, Hasenhuttl spoke about the win over Leicester as being testament to Redmond’s improvements, given he defended back to his own box – something not normally part of his game – following Yan Valery’s red card.
“That’s a new Nathan Redmond,” said the 51-year-old. “It was not cool for him, it was really hard working. That’s what I want to see from him.”
Asked if Redmond has been less selfish, Hasenhuttl said: “That’s a good word, I agree. I have spoken with him and he has seen that in this team it’s 100 per cent necessary to not get comfortable.

“Others close your gaps, they help you, they hurt themselves to help you. That’s the way to be in this team.”
Redmond has made 26 appearances in all competition for Southampton this season, including 22 in the Premier League (Transfermarkt), so he is already a crucial element of the team.
However, if such a key player develops a new side to his game and becomes even more of an asset at both ends of the pitch, it can only lead to optimism regarding Saints’ rise up the table.
