Southampton and West Ham are amongst four clubs keeping tabs on Lazio midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez, Italian reports claim.
Lazio midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez is attracting some attention and Southampton and Lazio are just two of the sides who could make a move.
The 29-year-old was part of Uruguay’s squad at the World Cup featuring in all four games and playing a total of 266 minutes in the South American side’s campaign.
Gonzalez is a flexible player who is capable of playing on either flank or in central midfield and he has 47 international caps to his name.
Lazio are in need of a solid central defender and could cash in Gonzalez in order to find the funds necessary for that mission.
It is suggested that West Ham, Southampton, Ajax and Torino are all interested in Gonzalez, but as yet no formal offer has been tabled by any of the sides.
Gonzalez is said to be valued at around £4.7 million, but Lazio may even be willing to give a discount to free up the money they need.
