Southampton have bolstered their striker options by signing Guido Carrillo from Monaco.
Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement after the club announced on their official website that they have signed Guido Carrillo from Monaco, while a number of Liverpool supporters have also commented on the move.
The Saints desperately needed to use the January transfer window wisely. Mauricio Pellegrino is coming under increasing pressure from the fans with the club’s run of top-half finishes in the Premier League looking set to come to an end this year.
In fact, it appears that Southampton are facing a serious fight just to stay in the top flight. The south coast club are currently third from bottom and have not won in the league since November.
But some of the gloom appears to have been lifted around St Mary’s after the club confirmed on their official website that they had landed Carrillo on a contract that will run until 2021.
Unsurprisingly, the news has been received extremely positively on social media amongst the Southampton fans. They have been awaiting their first signing of the window, and scoring goals has certainly been an issue, so there is a hope that he may be able to address some of their problems.
Meanwhile, Liverpool fans have lightheartedly suggested that the Reds can expect Carrillo to make the move to Anfield in the next few years due to the number of players who have headed to Merseyside from Southampton in recent years.
