Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray reportedly wants to sign Southampton striker Sam Gallagher this summer.

A number of Southampton and Blackburn fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Sun on Sunday (26/5; page 69) over the weekend which suggested that Tony Mowbray is hoping to bring Sam Gallagher back to Ewood Park this summer.
Rovers are looking to build on a promising first year back in the Championship. They finished 15th in the table, but were as close to 10th place Swansea City as they were to Stoke, the team who finished one place below Mowbray’s men.
The report claims that Mowbray has met with the club’s owners to try and persuade the Venky’s to make a £5 million bid for the 23-year-old, who scored 11 league goals during a loan spell with Blackburn two years ago.
The Sun on Sunday (26/5; page 69) added that Mowbray has been told by the hierarchy that he will need to sell players if he wishes to fund a bid this summer, so it is not clear whether Mowbray will be able to land his target this summer.

Some of the Saints fans on social media appear to be in favour of a move. It is appearing increasingly unlikely that Gallagher will make the grade with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men with the youngster only making a handful of substitute appearances this past season, and some feel that it is time to cut ties and let him get on with his career elsewhere.
However, there are plenty of Blackburn supporters who are hoping that he will not end up making a move to Ewood Park given the potential fee being mentioned in the report. There are also a number of fans who are not convinced that Gallagher will ever return to the club having been linked with a move on several occasions.
