HITC understands that a number of Premier League clubs have expressed an interest in Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto.

Yuri Alberto, the Brazilian striker, has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer and with time running out for English sides to make additions this summer, things could well be busy as we approach the final five days of the window.

A new striker is seemingly the target of multiple Premier League clubs as sides bid to fend off any potential danger of relegation this summer.

Wolves are understood to be one of the sides keen on the signing of Alberto but another English club have stolen a march.

Southampton see bid turned down for Yuri Alberto

HITC understands that a number of Premier League clubs have held talks with Corinthians about a possible deal for striker Alberto.

We understand that Southampton are amongst the teams looking closely at Alberto after previous interest from Wolves.

Wolves failed with a bid to land Alberto in January, but he now could be heading to England in this window.

We reported that Wolves were willing to pay £18 million for Alberto back in January but Gary O’Neil’s side could not pull off a deal this summer. Another side that failed to get a deal over the line was West Ham United.

“I had an offer from West Ham for 16 million euros,” admitted then-Corinthians president Duilio Monteiro Alves back in November of 2023 after turning down a late-summer bid from The Hammers.

“And we didn’t do it (the deal).”

Southampton see offer turned down for Alberto

With just days remaining before the window slams shut, HITC understands that Russell Martin’s Southampton have seen an offer for Alberto turned down.

Little is known about Alberto but speaking to talkSPORT back in January, South American football expert Tim Vickery said he’d be an interesting signing for Wolves.

“I think he’s interesting,” Vickery, an expert in all things South American football, told talkSPORT (31 January, 3pm). “He has had a little spell in Europe already with Zenit. It wasn’t very long but he did well. The only reason he came back was the war.”

Alberto scored 17 goals for the South American side last season and provided a further three assists for the club and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.
