The Southampton manager has already implemented some major changes at St Mary’s.
Southampton ace Oriol Romeu sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and highlighted the two key ingredients that Ralph Hasenhüttl expects from his players.
The Saints seem to already be a different team under the tutelage of the Austrian, and there have already been massive improvements from Mark Hughes’s reign.
And the Spaniard seemed to hint that two simple key aspects that Hasenhüttl expects were missing from Southampton’s game under the Welshman, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“He wants us to play with passion and intensity and that is me. Having that passion, it brings the best out of me. It is the same when I am training; I need to be connected to the session and every detail, and go away thinking about it and what needs to be done.”
Romeu’s comments on Hasenhüttl’s insistence on his players showcasing passion and intensity just go to show how Mark Hughes failed to motivate a group of players who should realistically be nowhere near the bottom three.
Despite the Saints’ recent improvements, they are by no means safe from the threat of relegation, and they currently sit in 18th spot in the Premier League table, two points adrift of safety.
But as long as they continue to show the endeavour that they have done in recent weeks, Southampton have every chance of retaining their top flight status for at least another year.
