The Saints centre-back and Austria youth international is now tied to the Premier League club until 2021.

Southampton have announced that Austria youth international Christoph Klarer has signed a two-year contract extension at the Premier League club, committing until June 2021.
The 18-year-old centre-back has been at the south coast club since July 2016, when he joined from Rapid Wien’s academy, and has been working his way up the ranks.
Despite his relatively young age, Klarer has been turning out for Radhi Jaidi’s Under-23s this term, having graduated from the Under-18s where he was captain.
Transfermarkt lists him as having made 11 appearances in Premier League 2 and one in the Checkatrade Trophy, and he also took part in Wednesday’s Premier League International Cup semi-final meeting with Dinamo Zagreb.

At international level, the 1.91m (6ft 3in) defender has steadily been rising up the ranks and is currently playing at Under-19s level, Transfermarkt listing him as having made four appearances at that age group thus far under the stewardship of Hermann Stadler.
Klarer now has his mind set on impressing first-team manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, who has utilised a number of academy stars since arriving at the club in December including Michael Obafemi, Yan Valery, Josh Sims, Tyreke Johnson, Callum Slattery and Kayne Ramsay.
